On this page we will feature information from one charity that we are currently supporting in one way or another - the information will change from time to time, so please do check back occasionally.

Do you know there is no hospice for children locally?

The charity we are currently supporting was founded by a local family whose young son was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was just four years old.  Sadly he lost his battle at the age of eight but, inspired by his courage and determination, his parents set out to provide specialist palliative care for other children.

Theirs is not a story any family expects to tell, nor one that any parent would ever want to have to tell.  However, some stories, however painful, should be told, because they can make a difference.

For several years the charity’s care team has delivered palliative care, respite and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in their own homes across Berkshire and the surrounding areas.

The charity has now launched a capital campaign to raise £5m to build a truly local children’s hospice, so that families can access the care and support they need within their own community – a home from home, a place of love and laughter where children can simply be children, and where parents know their children are safe.

Every little bit makes a HUGE difference – for example, just £25 pays for an hour’s respite to help a local family.
